The next several days are expected to be cold, with high temperatures below freezing for at least the next 3 days. The members of the WMTFD would like to remind people of some safety tips when dealing with extremem cold temperatures.

- Stay off roads if at all possible. If trapped in your car, then stay in side.

- LImit your time outside. If you need to go outside, then wear layers of warm clothing. Watch for signs of frostbite and hypothermia.

- Avoid Carbon monoxide poisoning. Only use generators and grills outdoors and away from windows. NEVER heat your home with a gas stovetop or oven.

- Check on neighbors. Older adults and young children are more at risk in extreme cold.

- Bring your outdoor pets inside.

- Never leave a space heater on when you go to sleep.

- Don't place space heater close to any sleeping person.

- Never use gasoline in a kerosene space heater, as even small amounts of gasoline mixed with kerosene can increase risk of fire.

- Dont' use portable propane space heaters indoors or in any confined space unless they are specifically designed for indoor use.

- Never use your oven, grill, or clothes dryer to heat your home.

- Never leave space heaters on when you are not at home.
